Theoretical analysis of optical bistability in a CW-pumped erbium-doped fiber laser

A theoretical model that allows numerical simulations of optical bistability phenomena in CW-pumped erbium-doped fiber lasers is presented. Results the match correctly with previous experimental data. In order to simulate this phenomenon, population inversion and powers longitudinal distributions along active have been considered. If long enough, it has found transition between non-lasing lasing states involves a dramatic redistribution medium. This fact makes constitute different enough initial conditions which determine final responses same control parameter, say, bistability. On other hand, justification for result pointed out range becomes reduced if an external signal launched cavity. Finally, width dependence on length analyzed.
